Most anticipated electric cars of 2022

AutoUpdate 2022-10-08

Chinese automakers have seen massive sales of electrified cars last year.

As Tesla continues to ship a large portion of its Shanghai plant production abroad, local brands have stepped in to capture the lion’s share of the Chinese electric car market: Nearly four out of every five electric vehicles on the market have been sold by local automakers.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E hit showrooms in the end of 2021. This spring, Honda will begin sales of two crossovers, the S1 and P1, under its dedicated EV brand, e:N.

In mid-2022, Cadillac will launch sales of the Lyric crossover while Toyota will begin delivering the bZ4X crossover, the first product in its bZ EV series.

As these new electric vehicles pile up on the market in the coming months, the tug of war between local and global automakers is about to begin.

Among the three electric vehicle startups, Li Auto faces an even more acute challenge: improving product development capability.  China’s third largest EV company still only has one model, the range-extended electric crossover.
